About
A teacher first.
Then a researcher, an editor, a reader of poems.
I'm Dr Kusi David, Associate Professor of Language and Literature. For fifteen years I've taught in classrooms where students think in one language, speak in another and write exams in a third.
My work sits where pedagogy, poetry and digital tools meet: how phones, voice notes and open archives can make literature feel like it belongs to the students reading it.

How I teach
Three things I believe.
-
1
Every language in the room is a resource.
Students read better when they're allowed to think in the language they dream in. Code-switching is a scaffold, not a mistake.
-
2
The best tool is the one already in their pocket.
I design for phones, low data and shared devices, because that's what most of my students actually have.
-
3
Knowledge should be open.
My papers are free to read, and the poetry archive belongs to the people who recorded it.
